SOME PANORAMIC PICTURES
G. Carboni, February 1999
Translation edited by G. L. Stuart
In this article, I introduce to you some panoramic pictures made with a special photographic camera, which I made at home so as the other instruments of this gallery. I do not yet know when I will write the article on the construction of this device because before I want work on some other articles. In the meantime, there are some pictures as a preview.
There are images of Italian cities, such as Florence, Venice, Bologna,
Milan, Siena, Rome.
These pictures encompass a field 120° wide in the horizontal direction and 42° wide in
the vertical one. To have a comparison, the longest side of a normal picture encompass
about 40°.
The film used is of the type 120, and every picture measures 157 x 58 mm on the film.
The objective used is a Tessar Zeiss with 75 mm of focal length.
The panoramic camera model is with rotating objective.
When you view these pictures, we suggest you to keep the monitor resolution at 800 x 600
or slightly higher and darken the room a bit.
As you will see, the shot field is very wide and allows to you a general view of squares,
buildings and streets. It
opens the spaces and enlivens the lights. It gives back their environment to the buildings
and illustrates their rapport with the other elements of the scene. It shows the
spontaneous attitude of the people towards the urban environment where they are.
Click on the pictures to enlarge them.
